Description
At the age of 4 my mother read me the story of Icarus and Daedalus. I was at once struck with then notion of "why not?". Certainly, if a person could image it, why would it not be possible? So, I set about making my very first set of cardboard wings. Then, on to find the appropriate launch site. Of course, it had to be a roof. Not to high, but certainly high enough to facilitate flight.
Over the course of the next 11 years there would be a return to the "drawing board" for a little R&D in preparation for the next "new and improved" test flight.
At the age of 11 years I gave up this practice. Nothing broken so far.
